Wall Murals - A Wall in Every Room

Some pals of mine called me the other day. Married parents Jake and Diane have three children: Sarah (age 16), Jordan (age 11), and Emily (7 years old). They invited me over to see their recently renovated house. After nearly two and a half years of labor, they successfully completed the entire house. They are inviting friends and family around to view their finished product since they are proud of the work they have completed.

Now it was my time to stop by today to see what kind of decorators they had become and, of course, to give them praise for a job well done. About midday, I came and rang the doorbell. Diane knocked on the door and opened it for me.

The living room is located past the entrance on the left. I was immediately in awe of the far wall as soon as I entered. Treasure of Splendor, a whole wall painting, had been installed. An artist's rendering of a narrow river with a white wooden bridge spanning from one side to the other may be seen in this mural. On both sides of the river's shore, rich vegetation is present in the meantime.

With green, gold, yellow, orange, and red leaves in an array that only nature could produce, the hues are those of early autumn. Wildflowers in the fall are in full bloom. Tall trees may be seen in the background, while two white geese can be seen in the foreground floating in the river. It goes without saying that they had the space furnished to match the mural's splendor.

Jacob was waiting for us in the family room after that. They refer to this space as their entertainment hub. A big flat-screen TV was mounted on the other wall, and a home theater system's worth of electronic audio and video equipment was housed in an oak cabinet beneath the TV.

The room's four surround sound speakers were perfectly audible since a huge microfiber sectional sofa with a curved design was placed in the middle of the space, wall mural about halfway between the TV and the sofa. The only thing left to tell was that the room was furnished with two oak tables and chairs, oak bookcases, and multicolored earth tone draperies.

Indeed, there is a lovely wall mural in this space as well. A painting depicting a cityscape with skyscrapers layered on top of one another. Beautiful tones of brown, gold, maroon, black, yellow, gray, and white are present this time. This is well executed contemporary urban art.

They now request that I go with them into the kitchen. The cabinets in this case are oak with a honey finish. The granite counter tops are all a medium brown color. Fresh fruit platters and wine bottles are shown in mosaic mural tiles on the walls above the countertops.

The mahogany kitchen table and chairs have a finish that is similar to that of the cabinets. In the center of the kitchen is a stainless steel island counter with a small sink and a cutting board built into the surface close to the sink. A pot rack hangs from a chandelier over the island. In addition to lighting the pot rack, this island counter fixture also provides light for cooking.

Is the kitchen's far wall mural anything I already mentioned? This is stunning right now, and I'll explain why. First off, just so you know, this mural's name is Courtyard View. This is a depiction by an artist of a cobblestone patio with lush vegetation by a tropical seashore. Amazing potted flowers in vibrant, deep hues of red, pink, and deep orange line the courtyard's pathway to a round table and chair with a white linen tablecloth.

A bottle of wine and a pitcher of fruit punch are placed in the center of the table. Plants with rich, green leaves line the courtyard's path between the beautiful potted flowers. Mountains that emerge from the sea and a palm tree beachfront can be seen in the backdrop. When you go into the kitchen, this mural is the first thing that catches your eye. Must I say more?

After leading me back to the staircase by the front door from the kitchen, Jake and Diane take me upstairs to Sarah's bedroom. Lavender and pink hues are used throughout this bedroom's decor. The canopy bed features a white wood frame and a white lace canopy with lavender fringe all the way around the edge. The lace canopy is complemented by the window treatments. The antique white finish is present on the dresser, nightstands, and hutch.

What can you make out on the wall next to the bed? I believe you said wall mural. Again, you are correct. The wall artwork this time is titled Unicorn Garden. This is undoubtedly a wonderful scene. I'm hoping that my description does this mural's breathtaking beauty justice. I'll work hard.

First of all, this scene happens at night. With her right hand on the unicorn's snout and her left hand patting its lower neck, the teenage girl is wearing a flowing pink lace gown. The full harvest moon is smiling down on them from the night sky above as they stand beneath a large oak tree. In between two tiny ponds, self adhesive canvas the girl and the unicorn are situated on a small patch of ground. The panorama takes on incredible deep blue, purple, and lavender hues under the moonlight.

A waterfall empties into the pond from the far edge of the pond, which lies behind them to the left. A hilltop castle can be seen in the right far backdrop. They are surrounded by beautifully made lanterns that are shining brightly from the tree branches. The edge of a pond in the front reflects both of them in the water.

Wild flowers in exquisite hues of white, yellow, gold, pink, lavender, purple, and blue grow on the right and left sides of the pond. They are on a lush, jade-green lawn that is a lovely shade of green. The room's ambience is delightfully enhanced by this full-wall artwork. Well Done!

We then proceed to Jordan's bedroom down the hall. Jordan's bedroom resembles that of an average 11-year-old kid. It has a double bed with a race car frame. A border of checkered flag wallpaper runs around the room's white walls, roughly one-third of the way up.

Both the nightstand and the dresser have a solid black finish. Over the bed's headboard are some black wall-mounted shelves. These are displaying Jordan's Pinewood Derby-winning trophies. Jordan's favorite NFL quarterback is depicted in a life-size wall image on one of the walls. You guessed it—a wall mural is there here as well, on the far wall across from the bed.

The NASCAR racing depicted in this particular wall painting was created by an artist. Five race vehicles in vibrant and pulsating shades of red, green, yellow, peel and stick and blue are surrounded by smears of delightfully brilliant pastel colors. When you are truly on the front row of a NASCAR race, you can definitely feel the intense emotional excitement. The original painter of this piece really captured the adrenaline-pumping excitement felt by many NASCAR racing enthusiasts. What I like to refer to as the ideal finishing touch for this boy's bedroom is this wall mural. Well done!

We now move down the corridor a little ways to Emily's bedroom. The 7-year-old daughter of Jake and Diane is named Emily. As we entered the bedroom, I observed that the color scheme was a soft yellow with accents of the ideal shade of green to go with the room's decor.

The bed in this instance is a Hollywood-style bed, and the comforter is overstuffed and has a lovely swirling pattern in pastel shades of green, pink, blue, and yellow. The head of the bed is situated approximately 5 feet to the left of a window and the bed is set up in the room on a pedestal. Sheer drapes with an elegant emerald green valance serve as the window treatments. Here, the nightstand and dresser are made of sparkling pastel green acrylic.
